Rick Tanguay

Coach Biography

Coach Tanguay resides in Trenton and is also a graduate of Trenton High School (1989). He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Ferris State University in May 1993. Rick is currently the Chief of Police for the City of Gibraltar. Rick retired as  Operations Lieutenant from the Trenton Police Department after 27 years of service in June 2022.  

Coach Tanguay has been involved with the City of Trenton youth baseball and softball youth as a coach and board member since 2006. In addition, Rick coached baseball and softball for Arthur’s Middle School from 2010 until 2015. Coach Tanguay was inducted into the City of Trenton sports hall of Fame in 2022

Coach Tanguay is a lifelong resident of Trenton where he and his wife Nikki have raised three children, Brady, Mckenna, and Aleah. Brady played college football at Siena Heights University and McKenna (a 4-year THS softball letter recipient) and played softball at the University of Detroit Mercy. Aleah is a senior at Trenton High School and was a member of the 2021-2023 THS varsity softball squad.

Coach Tanguay was selected by the Michigan High School Athletic Association as district and regional coach of the year in 2022 and 2023. 

Coach Tanguay's coaching record since 2021 at Trenton High School is 90-28.  The team has won 2 district titles, 2 regional titles, one quarterfinal, and was runner-up in the state of Michigan in 2022.
