Anorah Kang

My name is Anorah Kang, and I am part of the Class of 2025 at Capistrano Valley High School (a.k.a. Capo Valley H.S.) in Mission Viejo, California. My family and I moved from New Jersey to California about seven years ago and both of my parents attended Columbia University. We went back to the east coast this past February (2022) to visit the various NYC metro area colleges to see if any of them would be a good fit for me academically and athletically. I'd love to attend college somewhere in the northeastern part of the US, but I'm really open to travel anywhere that will allow me to fulfill my goal and dream to play softball at the college level while pursuing a high-academic education.

I play the outfield and 2nd base on my travel team, OC Batbusters Aldrich 2024 (18U). I pride myself in being a contact hitter, a full-effort fielder, unafraid to attack the first pitch, a smart base-runner, and able to thrive and make plays in high-pressure game situations.

My academic accomplishments include graduating from Arroyo Vista Middle School with high honors. I made the Superintendent's List each quarter in 7th and 8th grades, a distinction that is reserved for students with straight As. Since I was able to take some high school-level classes in middle school, I'm currently taking AP and honors classes. My sophomore year, I finished both semesters with straight As with a weighted Academic GPA of 4.4 and made Superintendent & Principal Honor Rolls. In addition, I recently took the PSAT10 to prepare myself for the PSAT/NMSQT test, which I plan to take during the fall of 2023.

As you can see, I am high-academically minded, and it goes without saying that I have a passion and dedication to the game of fastpitch softball. In addition, both my parents work in the ministry and have passed down their deep faith in Christ, which I have made my own. All these things have shaped me to understand how there are many things beyond the sport that go into being a collegiate athlete. I am excited to see how the game of softball will open opportunities in my own life pursuits, both on and off the softball field!
