Coach Biography
My name is Bryan Brinkman, and for the past ten years, I have had the privilege of coaching softball. Working primarily with pitchers and catchers, while also imparting my knowledge of hitting and throwing mechanics, I strive to develop young athletes into responsible, respectful, and determined humans. Growing up, baseball was my passion, and I was fortunate to have been coached by my grandfather, Lee Hagler, who served as an umpire in the esteemed Big 8 Conference, and was the home plate umpire for the 1991 Men's College World Series. It is my utmost aspiration to pass down his wisdom of the game to the next generation of players. From a young age, I was captivated by the world of baseball and softball. My grandfather's influence was profound. We spent incalculable hours behind the scenes chatting with crews, coaches, players, and the like. Through countless conversations and observing his umpiring prowess, I began to develop a deep understanding of the sport. It was during these formative years that I realized my true passion for athletics and people.
As a player, I gravitated towards the roles of pitcher and catcher. These positions allowed me to explore the intricate details of the game, and to understand the art of pitching and the art of catching. It was through countless reps and dedication that I honed my skills and gained a heightened perspective of the game. However, my true calling revealed itself when I recognized the value of sharing my grandfather's teachings with others. With a desire to inspire and motivate young athletes, I embarked on my coaching journey. I wanted to make a positive impact on the lives of players, just as my grandfather had done for me. Guided by his wisdom, I sought to instill a love for the game and a deep understanding of its nuances in those I coached. Witnessing the growth and development of my players has been immensely rewarding and has reinforced my dedication to coaching.
Every day, I strive to make a difference in the lives of my players, to help them cultivate their skills, and to instill in them the same love and respect for the game that has shaped my own life. As I continue this journey, I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the future of softball and to carry on the legacy of my grandfather.
