Maren Robinson

My name is Maren Robinson. I am a Junior (Class of 2025) at York High School, located in York, Maine. My academics are extremely important to me which is my course load is rigorous. I have already taken Advanced Placement classes, including AP Government and Politics and AP English Language and Composition, and am currently enrolled in AP US History, AP Statistics, and AP Literature. All of the rest of my course load are Honors level classes. My plan is to major in political science and eventually obtain my law degree. I am also a member of the Speech and Debate Team, Newspaper, Young Women's Leadership, Eco Club, World Languages Honor Society, Sober Friends, and Future Business Leaders of America at York High School. When my Dad gave me my first bat when I was four years old, it was love at first sight. Softball has helped me to learn life skills that have helped me balance the life of being a student-athlete. I have learned how to manage my time and be efficient when doing my school work as well as my training. It has also taught me lessons on how to handle pressure and how to bounce back when things aren’t going the way I expected or wanted them to. Softball has provided me with these valuable lessons as well as experiences like traveling to new places that are outside of New England, the experience of being part of a team and being surrounded by a positive environment with an amazing group of young women, and the overall feeling of joy when I see my hard work paying off. Nothing beats that feeling you get when you square up a pitch off the sweet spot of your bat and watch it fly or when I see my pitch spin away from the batter’s bat as they swing and miss. The lessons that I have learned from playing softball have not only made me the player I am today but will also impact me as the person I am growing up to be and are lessons I will carry with me forever both on and off the field. I am looking for a school that will allow me to play for a competitive softball team with a great atmosphere as well as coaches that will support my academic career.
